• This Christmas let us all say a prayer for Mother Earth.

On this holy day of Christmas, while we gather with our family and friends to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ let us all say a prayer to save Planet Earth from the destruction of global warming.

As I have posted before, during my recent visit to Mount Kilimanjaro, I was able to witness the mass destruction caused by climate change. The result of our beautiful ice mountains melting away is before our eyes and it will not be too long before our ice glaciers are reduced to fragments, causing heavy destruction.

The results of climate change are are already evident. In 2018 alone, many countries, including Sri Lanka, faced devastating floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, tsunamis etc, snatching away the lives of thousands of people. Presently, our brothers and sisters in northern Sri Lanka are also hit by severe floods caused from torrential rains.

  • In a country, where the PM is also handling youth affairs, we see no bright future for us

On Thursday morning, Sri Lanka’s new cabinet took oaths in the presence of President Maithripala Sirisena.

Being a minority government, 30 new cabinet ministers were sworn in, including portfolios given to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe. Whilst Hon. Wickremesinghe retained his previous portfolio of National Policies and Economic Affairs, he also received the portfolios of Resettlement and Rehabilitation, Northern Province Development, Vocational Training and Skills Development and Youth Affairs.

Today, the Ministry of Youth Affairs is one of the most powerful portfolios as it handles all issues surrounding the youth of this country. Sri Lanka in particular has much to do to serve our Youth. Out of our estimated 21 million population, around 4.4 million people are aged between 20 to 34 years. This makes up at least 21% of our population.

  • UNF and TNA fear grows as Hon. Mahinda Rajapaksa is being appointed as the Opposition Leader.

Today, there is a large cry in Parliament by MPs from the UNF Alliance and their partners in disguise, the TNA, against my father Hon. Mahinda Rajapaksa being appointed the Opposition Leader.

This was expected. After all there has been a fear set within the UNF and TNA that their frauds will soon be exposed if a strong opposition is established in Parliament under the leadership of Hon. Rajapaksa.

Within these past few days, it is sad to note that the most severe issues facing our citizens have been ignored. Instead the debates in Parliament revolve around why my father should not be made the Leader of the Opposition and how the TNA should retain this position. Any one with a common sense will realize that if the TNA has pledged their support to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, then how can they also be made the main opposition? This, as I have repeatedly mentioned, will be a blow to Sri Lankan politics and will set a dangerous environment where the government and TNA will have a free hand to mismanage the country and commit large scale frauds.

  • Hon. Mahinda Rajapaksa’s only intention of becoming the Prime Minister to form a care taker government.

On Saturday, Hon Mahinda Rajapaksa resigned from his prime ministerial position to pave way for the establishment of a new government under President Maithripala Sirisena.

After a nearly two month political deadlock which was a result of the thuggish and selfish behavior of the United National Party, who have only clung on to power for their personal gains, my father stepped down after a Supreme Court verdict which ruled against the dissolution of Parliament.

As I have said before, Hon. Mahinda Rajapaksa’s only intention of becoming the Prime Minister On Oct 26 was to form a care taker government. He knows the country was and still is in a severe crisis. The only way out of this crisis was to allow the citizens of this country to vote so that a strong, stable government could be established.

Hours after Hon. Rajapaksa resigned he returned back among the masses. There was no time wasted and his work for the citizens of this country has only continued.

However, following Hon. Rajapaksa’s resignation and the reinstatement of Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe, the UNP have returned back to their ‘real work’. And that is to discredit Hon. Rajapaksa so that they can have a free hand to rob this nation.

  • Today UNP & TNA want to dismiss Hon. Mahinda Rajapaksa from politics entirely to run this beautiful nation on their dread agendas.

Today, all MPs belonging to the United People’s Freedom Alliance, watched in utter disgust and disbelief as to how the United National Front together with their partner in disguise, the Tamil National Alliance termed my father and this nation’s leader, Mahinda Rajapaksa as a ‘stranger in Parliament’.

In utter disgust, as soon as Speaker of Parliament, Karu Jayasriya said he would recognize former president Hon. Rajapaksa as the Opposition Leader, UNP MP Hon. Lakshman Kiriella, very shamefully said there were strangers in the House. He continued his rant by saying Hon. Rajapaksa had resigned from the UPFA and joined the SLPP, which is why he had lost his parliamentary seat.

This rant was followed by the rant of his partner, TNA MP M. Sumanthiran, who called on the Speaker to appoint a committee to probe Hon. Rajapaksa’s new appointment. This was followed by the utterly shameful speech by SLMC Leader Hon. Rauff Hakeem who went on to criticize this nation’s leader as a former president and now a former parliamentarian.

All these remarks were made while Hon. Rajapaksa continued to sit quietly and watch the shameless rants of the government MPs who have already failed us all within these past three and a half years. Their failures and corruptions are so severe that they now fear that Hon. Rajapaksa will expose them while holding the Opposition Leader’s post. It is common sense, they fear the new appointment of my father, so much so that they want him evicted from Parliament.
